Title: Looking for a few meds
Post by: chopkins on June 25, 2011, 12:55 am
i was wondering about a few meds, quotes on pricing and availability

Xanax 2 or 3 mg

Ambien 10mg

Oxycodone 10 mg or more

Hydrocodone 10mg or more

generics are perfectly acceptable, the latter 2 i would prefer without the Acetaminophen, but as long as its 500mg per pill or less i can live with it

i was also looking for some advice on tranquilizers, i have sleep issues and ambien just isnt working anymore, i need something that will knock me out for 8 hours so i can sleep

message me if you can help with any of the things listed

I had insomnia for 3-4 years awake for days for no reason...no stimulant drugs or any drugs of any type. So i went to the Dr. and he prescribed me Trazodone. I only take it at night and if you want more than to just fall asleep and want a solid 8 hours of sleep few tranquilizers worked for me like that. Sure some would help me fall asleep but i'd be back awake in a few hours if that long.

I've tried trazodone and personally it doesn't help me fall asleep, just kinda gives me a tired feeling as well as tightness in my neck/throat area.  I used to be able to fall asleep from xanax/valium, but after some period of abuse of those two, they didn't knock me out very effectively any more.  Zolpidem doesn't work for me at all, although I only tried it after the aforementioned benzo abuse.

Enough opiates will put you in the 'nod' zone, which feels a whole lot like sleep but really isn't the same to your body.

My guess is that for those of us who have abused benzos to some degree (which I'm assuming you have), something in our brains related to GABA is messed up, causing these GABAergic drugs to not work well or at all for sleep anymore.  You may want to try stimulants during the day to 'wake you up' more which may help you fall asleep at night without a tranquilizer.  If you have just plain insomnia, I don't know what to suggest.

If you (or anyone else in a similar situation) have any advice/ideas, I'd like to hear them, as lack of sleep sucks bigtime.

i actually havent abused benzos

i use xanax maybe 2-3 days a month for my panic attacks

i tried ambien for 2 weeks and it didnt work so i stopped

drugs in general just dont work on me, its annoying, thats why i was looking for some oxy to see if the strong meds are the same way and also for pain relief, there isnt any OTC pain reliever that can even get rid of a headache for me

Temazepam will put you to sleep for a few hours if you have no benzo tolerance. It's not easy to get though (in the UK at least)

Benzos are a foolish choice for CHRONIC insomnia. About 70-80% of people, myself included, are knocked flat by Trazadone, btw. (It's a Tricyclic (sp?) anti-depressant, btw. It doesn't act as an anti-D when taken for sleep) 50-100mg puts me out like a brick to my skull. No choice on my part either, lol. But if you're hell-bent on not using an Anti-D then you're left with a few very effective options still. Zyprexa, and Seroquel will lay most people out at the right dose. Non habit-forming of course, they can be used nightly. Remeron works for some, not me tho. One last option is a higher dose of Promethazine; 75mg-100mg will sedate you a good deal. You get a nice buzz too. I have hundreds of P-Meth on hand always, good for so many problems. Aside from all these there isn't much that doesn't build tolerance quickly. I've seen people put down while tweaking from Trazadone, btw. That's the best I think. And I take 8mg Xanax XR every morning.

100mg Seroquel + 50mg Trazadone works well for me

My doctor gives me Trazodone, however it does little to combat my inability to sleep. What I have found is by taking double the Trazodone and a few shots of vodka, I get a wee bit of sleep. If I wake up...have some more vodka.
